Part I – Profile / Description of the Barangay

A. Historical Background

It was told a long time ago that the Subanons lived in the Mount Malindang. According to this group of people, the said mountain can still be classified as a “virgin forest” from which wild animals can thrive anywhere. There was a portion of the mountain wherein a big mango tree existed. The Subanons used the shade created by this tree for shelter and made as venue for special occasions such as assembly or simply for resting while enjoying the fruits it produced.

Eventually, the mango tree became a big factor in shaping the lives of the Subanons. They used it as reference point wherever they need to see directions. Thus the story of how the name Barangay Manga came about up to this day.
